England Player Ratings
Jordan Pickford – 4/10
Made two blatant mistakes early in the game. Both when he came out recklessly and was conceded a goal, but Colwill managed to clear him on the line, and again when he came out poorly to intercept a set piece, but was saved when Mavropanos’ header was ruled offside. In fact, in the second half. He threw the ball to Palmer so poorly that his opponent put the ball in the net. But the goal was disallowed for offside.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – 5/10
The defense was quite problematic and was often penetrated. But when it came to creating attacking play, he did quite well, especially when he crossed the ball accurately for Gordon to head the ball wide.
John Stones – 5/10
He was given the captain’s armband for the first time. After Kane’s injury problems, but he shared responsibility for the goal conceded along with Trent, who were too busy looking to get a shot on goal before Pavlidis’ easy shot was made.
Levi Colville – 6/10
The timing of the interception was extremely important. So that England would not fall behind quickly and play with confidence and not panic when the team had to build up from the back.
Rico Lewis – 6/10
He was very good at pressing and was also good at attacking. But he played a part in Greece’s winning goal, as he failed to clear the ball and Pavlidis scored.
Declan Rice – 6/10
He had to take on a heavy burden as he was a natural defensive midfielder, which led to several fouls and a yellow card.
Cole Palmer – 6/10
Standing lower than when playing for the club, there were few chances to score a goal. There was a golden opportunity but unfortunately the shot went over the bar in the first half. There was also a free kick that went just over the bar.
Phil Foden – 4/10
He rarely found a chance to create opportunities for his teammates, and was almost absent from the game when the team needed him the most. Finally, when he could not make an impact on the game, he was substituted as usual.
Bukayo Saka – 5/10
He had to come in to help out in defense from time to time to help Trent, whose defense seemed to have problems, leading to a yellow card. He was also unlucky to have an injury and had to be substituted.
Jude Bellingham – 6/10
Although he was put to play as a false nine, he almost dropped deep into the midfield for the entire game, almost scoring early on, but his shot was narrowly saved. He moved back to midfield when Watkins came on, and managed to score the equalizer.
Anthony Gordon – 6/10
Not as flashy as expected, not enough pressure on the opposing defenders, no wonder he was substituted.
Substitute
Noni Madueke (on for Saka 52′) – 5/10 – Came on straight away after conceding, tried hard to beat the Greek defence but couldn’t make much of a difference.
Ollie Watkins (on for Gordon 60′) – 6/10 – Came on with his first touch and almost scored, but incredibly shot over the bar. He did provide the assist for Bellingham’s equaliser.
Dominic Solanke (on for Solanke 72′) –
6/10 – Made his first international appearance in seven years and had a chance to score with a back-heel.
